The name chosen for Osteria Palazzo Ducale is not casual.
The name “osteria” is from the ancient French “oste, ostesse” (XII and XIII centuries) a derivative of the latin “hospite(m)”which translate as guest.
The etymology of the noun is a nod to the primary function of the place which is the hospitality.
For the people of Abruzzo “ospite” (guest) has a deeper meaning of creating a friendly, honest, informal, authentic relationship just like someone’s identity.
“Ospitale” can be translated in a wider meaning of offering everything to accommodate the guests and make them feel welcome, to make their stay in Castilent as pleasing as possible.
With this in mind, Osteria Palazzo Ducale welcomes you in its historical building.

Osteria Palazzo Ducale is a project based on the promotion and enhancement of the territory that materialise in the key concepts of culture, quality and sustainability.
We are inside the historical de Marinis residence property of the municipality of Castilenti, restored in the early ’90 of the last century.
The philosophy chosen to manage this extraordinary property has brought us to value every single detail.
The furniture, accessories and furnishing pieces are original pieces that come from our grandparents houses and stories, from our artisans work, like the ceramic cheese bowls made in Castelli (TE) and the wicker baskets.
The room furniture is also done with sustainability in mind.
Ancient pieces of furniture, homemade blankets made by our grandmothers and object from the Abruzzian peasant’s culture, are all testimonies of a past life that still wants to tell the story of our village, our territory and our origin.
In the main hall you will find a photo exhibition of ancient Castilenti, books and suggestions for your tours around Abruzzo. Please take care of these, they are very precious to us.
With this brief but necessary introduction, we wish you a pleasant and restful stay, full of personal development but above all…abruzzese.
